Eastern Plumas Chamber of Commerce and the Far Northern California Center for International Trade Development (CITD) hosted at Feather River College, invite local business owners and community organizations to join them for the 5th Annual Plumas Business Summit, Monday, April 24th, 2017.
This year’s theme “Mapping our Business, Where Local Meets Global,” will offer practical information relevant to Plumas County businesses, while providing a venue for collaboration and networking. Keynote speaker is Kevin Danaher, co-founder of Global Exchange, TedEx speaker and champion of sustainable, green, people-to-people economies. Guest Speakers: Amy Schulz. This is the only event of its type, where local businesses and would-be entrepreneurs can come together and network with other entrepreneurs on a county-wide scale. Kevin Danaher
Co-Founder of Global Exchange, TedEx Speaker and Champion of Sustainable, Green, People-to-People Economies.
Dr. Kevin Danaher teaches at Feather River College in the Incarcerated Students Program. He is a Co-Founder of Global Exchange, FairTradeUSA, the Green Festivals, the Environmental Service Learning Initiative, and the Green Guardians.
He has played a major role in Global Exchange’s 28-year record of merging social enterprise with human rights activism. His 1983 PhD in sociology from the University of California at Santa Cruz was based on his dissertation, The Political Economy of U.S. Policy Toward South Africa, which allowed him to synergize his academic work and his international activism in the anti-apartheid movement. He has traveled widely in Africa, Latin America, the Caribbean, the Middle East, China, Europe and most U.S. states. He is the author or editor of 13 books on the global political-economy, including his two latest, “The Green Festival Reader: Fresh Ideas from Agents of Change”; and “Building the Green Economy: Success Stories from the Grass Roots.” He has appeared on hundreds of radio and television shows, and he has spoken at colleges and community organizations in 47 states and many foreign countries. Described by The New York Times as the “Paul Revere of globalization’s woes,” Dr. Danaher's analytical expertise, sense of humor and blunt eloquence make him an exceptionally dynamic speaker. |

Amy Schulz

Amy Schulz believes in the power of rural residents, entrepreneurs and freelancers to shape the new economy because they have embraced this lifestyle and mindset for decades. Amy has lived in Plumas County since 2002, holding various roles locally, including Feather River College Director of Career Technical Education & Economic Workforce Development, Associate Faculty, SIFE/Enactus Advisor, and Small Business Development Center Consultant. She has worked with countless entrepreneurs in Plumas County as well as K12 and higher education educators to co-create education and workforce solutions for rural learners.
Amy was a co-creator of the New World of Work which addressed work skills locally, and has been endorsed by the White House through the TechHire initiative and statewide by the Governor’s Office and California Community College Chancellor’s Office. Amy is currently applying the Rec & Tech concept in her own consulting business as she works from Plumas County to serve clients throughout California, the nation, and even globally. Amy’s current projects include work through the California Community College Strong Workforce Program, innovation ecosystem development, facilitator for New World of Work, and social innovation labs with universities in Uganda and Argentina. Amy is pursuing a PhD in Organizational Systems from Saybrook University. Her research interest is in how trends in work are influenced by automation, artificial intelligence, and globalization and how the education system should innovate in order to prepare learners to thrive in the economy of tomorrow. Amy holds an MBA from University of Texas-Rio Grande Valley and a Bachelor’s of Arts in economics from UC Davis. Amy and her spouse, Michael Bagley, are raising their teenage children, Andrew and Alicia, in Quincy. |
Angela Cordell

With 10 years of domestic and international communications experience, Angela is a PR guru.
She began her career in California’s Capitol and has since worked her way up the state, assisting non-profits, economic development groups and small to midsize businesses analyze industry trends, develop new programs, products and services, and network with overseas partners.
Angela currently promotes a variety of education tools, international business development projects and global entrepreneurship efforts that foster economic sustainability and growth.
She began her career in California’s Capitol and has since worked her way up the state, assisting non-profits, economic development groups and small to midsize businesses analyze industry trends, develop new programs, products and services, and network with overseas partners.

Lisa Grant - Co-Owner Dickens Drilling
Lisa Grant is a long-time Quincy resident. She has four children, ages ranging from 22 to 8.
Lisa worked for Plumas Bank for 6 years, until she was laid off during the economic crash in 2010.
Shortly thereafter she started working for Richard Stockton @ State Farm, she worked there until this past August, when she went full time at Dickens Drilling, Plumas counties only water well drilling company. Her husband Ben has worked there for 17 years as the driller. They just this month purchased the company.
Lisa has always enjoyed hard work and working with the public. In her down time Lisa, has enjoyed playing on (the now disbanded) local roller derby Team. She has done some theatre, but for fun, she loves doing standup comedy when it works into her busy schedule. Her daily life gives her all the material she needs.
